A lot of us have a classic in the garage that hasn't been enjoyed for some time. Other commitments have prevented it from being used or serviced and now that you have the time, it needs a little TLC to get it back on the road.
Commonly time ravages the softer elements, the bushes, rubber pipes, fuel diaphragms and sadly, the damp can creep in and rust may have taken hold.
Our recommissioning service is designed to fit in between a full restoration and a simple service, intended to get your car back on the road so that it can be once again be enjoyed.
For many of us, our classics slumber for the winter, waking when the cold and rain have abated, when the roads can be enjoyed and the hoods can come down.
Having been stored for a few months, you may be cautious about taking it back on the road without having it checked to make sure no new leaks have sprung, nothing perished and that everything is working as it should.
Our Spring Assessment is designed to give you that reassurance.
We look over the main safety elements of the car, ensuring it is roadworthy, checking the state of tune, the condition of the brakes, fluids and all the elements that may need some attention after a period of hibernation.
This assessment assumes the car was in a good condition before it was stored and that the time it was off the road was less than a year, however, if it has been stored for longer, then the Recommissioning Assessment might be the better option.
In order to bring your car back to life we need to look over it and see what needs to be done. For this stage we offer a Recommissioning Assessment, which includes collection of the vehicle (within a 10 mile radius of our workshop, £3 per mile thereafter) and recovery to our workshop, where we put it on the lift and go over all the major components, assessing the roadworthiness of each and generating a report on our findings.
This process is similar to an MoT, looking at the major components, assessing what needs to be replaced, what is in good order and what isn't, so that the car can be safely returned to the road.
The cost of this report covers 3 hours of our time and if we are commissioned to rectify the issues found, these hours are taken off of the final bill.
Building upon the Assessment Report, our full Engineers Report goes over the entire car and reports on every aspect of the car from those that must be rectified, those that should be rectified and those that could be rectified. The culmination of this report is a complete list of everything the car would need to bring it back to A1 condition. This acts as a catalogue of issues you can select from, with each element separately priced so you can decide what elements you would like done and which can be left for another day.
As with the Assessment Report, the cost of this service covers 5 hours of our time and if we are commissioned to rectify the issues found, these hours are taken off of the final bill.
Whatever issues are found, we are equipped to resolve them for you, whether it simply needs a good service, or a complete strip and rebuild and everything in between.
