A seasoned historic rally car, we updated this beautiful example with sympathetic fuel injection, which utilised the original SUs as throttle bodies, high performance brakes and a BW Tremec T5 5-speed manual gearbox.
This was always a beautiful and well mannered car, but replacing the Moss box makes a huge difference and fuel injection makes the engine purr like a modern powerplant.
This late 70's Mini, an incredibly tidy example, with no rust, a strong chassis and flawless bodywork, was, unfortunately, previously modified to run a supercharger a little poorly and when the current owner bought it, they found it ran badly and had undergone some questionable mechanical practices.
Numerous components were cable-tied in, the ECU was laid on top of the intake manifold, pipes had numerous joins, the electrical loom for the upgrade was a little ad-hoc, there were several leaks and overall it just needed some TLC.
We manufactured numerous brackets to hold the aforementioned components, such as the oil and intercooler radiators, we tidied up the loom and extended it to allow the mounting of the ECU inside the cabin, repaired the leaks, fixed the various mechanical issues and brought this lovely Mini back up to scratch.
A rare and beautiful example of early English motoring history, this Wolseley was a true treasure to maintain.
The owner maintains this car and has done so extremely well, which was evident when we started working on it, as every bolt came away easily, where they had been attended to over the years. Unfortunately when main leaf of the rear spring snapped, they were unable to perform the repairs themselves, so we were asked to help.
The springs were removed, the main leaf on both sides replaced, the pack re-tempered, painted and new bushes fitted.
In addition, the exhaust had seen better days, unfortunately they cannot be purchased any more, so we fabricated a new one, utilising an Austin Mini baffle to replace the original.
This was a privilege to work on and we hope to see it again in the future.
